A substantial part of EV charging takes place at night, at home. While you sleep and your car works, there is a complex balancing act in the background, where the ample time of each night is used smartly by your EV and the charger to balance the grids and soften the impact on your wallet. In the EU, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) will have to enable smart charging that makes all this possible.
