Smart charging is the ability to adjust the power into/out of the charging station. This is one of the ways to get many additional benefits out of EV charging, such as charging off peak when there is surplus power, when prices are low, when the electricity is greenest, etc. 'Smart‘ EV charging brings benefits to the user, the network operator, and the grid as a whole, and should be the norm in the future.
